Baby milestones - 3 month old
Here is a simple guide to your 3 month old baby's development.

Wow! Your baby is not a newborn anymore. She is growing, changing and learning each day.

Here is an overview of how your beautiful 3 month old will be developing this month.

  • Her eyes should now be able to focus on one object and not be crossed anymore. She can easily recognize familiar faces, toys, places and objects
  • Usually around this age sleeping and eating patterns become more regular. He'll develop the ability to roll from his back to his tummy. Be careful when changing his diaper on a changing table as he may now be able to accidentally roll off!
  • When held in a sitting position she can now hold her head up. Will also enjoy bouncing in this position
  • Will now notice certain objects of interest and swipe at them with his hands. This is the beginning of the pincer grip, which is learning to grab objects between the thumb and fingers. It won't be fully developed until about 12 months of age
  • Can now push down on a hard surface when being held in a standing position
  • Can kick quite strongly now as his knee and hip joints become more and more flexible
  • She is developing intellectually and begins to laugh out loud. This is such a treat as a parent to hear the first gurgles of laughter from your baby
  • He can now also distinguish between about 300 spoken sounds. Always speak to your baby, as hearing sounds is so important for the development of language skills
