
Nicole Rawson-Huff
Nicole is an honors graduate with a Bachelor of Science – Child Development and Family Relations. For many years, she practiced in the field of child development in Asheville, North Carolina, as a Parent Educator and Child Development Specialist. She trained as a Child Life Specialist at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where she learned valuable skills in play therapy to reduce the trauma caused by hospitalization. Nicole is also a Certified Facilitator for ‘Raising Kids with Special Needs’, a Certified ‘Parents as Teachers’ Educator, and an Infant Massage Instructor. Nicole was the founding manager of TotLine, a parent information phone line.Nicole is the co-author of The Triumphant Child: A guide to raising two, three and four year olds and The Triumphant Child: Caring for your newborn - How to enjoy the first 60 days as a new mom.
Nicole is currently working with the International Program of Psycho-Social Research (IPP-SHR), which documents the experiences of children and adults who live with a serious illness (physical and mental). She is the very proud mother of two lovely, inquisitive, and energetic children, who have taught her that the best gift you can give a child is to ‘listen’.
