Nursery rhymes (ages 2-4)
Forgotten the words to the nursery rhymes you sang as a child? Here are a couple of favorites to share with your little one.
Nursery rhymes have been around for hundreds of years, and they have been passed down from generation to generation. There is something wonderful about sharing something with your baby or child that was part of your own childhood. I loved nursery rhymes as a child, and I still have my old nursery rhyme book I share with my daughter. Nursery rhymes are fun to share with your baby and child - they also help develop your child's imagination, sense of rhyme, rhythm and language. They are easy to learn and if repeated, babies and toddlers will anticipate and join in at their favorite parts. For some of us it has been a long time since we have sung or heard these songs, so print out and enjoy these popular nursery rhymes.
Little Miss Muffet
Sat on her tuffet
Eating her curds and whey
Along came a spider And sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away!
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
Ring-a-ring-a-roses
A pocket full of posies
A-Tishoo! A-Tishoo!
We all fall down
(Here are some verses you may not know)
The cows are in the meadow
Eating buttercups
A-Tishhoo! A-Tishoo!
We all jump up!
The fish are in the water
The fish are in the sea
We all jump up With a one, two, three!
Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep
And doesn't know where to find them
Leave them alone, and they will come home
Bringing their tails behind them
