The preschool children in my class recently explored different kinds of lines and to add to our experience, the children explored these lines of paint on the light table...

I placed a clear tray with lines of tempera paint on the light table and a set of cotton swabs in cups next to the light table...

The children stopped by though out the morning to see what they could do with the painted lines. The first set of children who stopped by spent time mixing the lines up and then moved on. Sometimes, a process isn't about sitting still and doing it all at one time but rather it is about opportunity and interest. The opportunity to give something a try whenever a child shows interest...

Throughout the morning many of the children came back for a return visit and with each new visit to the light table, the drawing, writing, or hand and finger movements kept getting more specific...

It may be difficult for you to tell but we have some name writing going on in the middle of those mixed up lines! What names or letters do you see in the photos I have shared?
